Dahab may feel like a peaceful escape from the rest of the world, but getting here is easier than you might expect. Whether you are flying into Sharm El Sheikh, or travelling overland from Cairo or another Egyptian city, there are several ways to reach us.
Here is what you need to know before setting off.
The easiest option: fly to Sharm El Sheikh
The easiest and most convenient way to reach Dahab is to fly to Sharm El Sheikh International Airport (SSH). The airport is approximately one hour’s drive from Dahab, depending on traffic and security checkpoints along the way.
Sharm El Sheikh has direct international connections with many European cities, as well as domestic flights from Cairo. If you cannot find a convenient direct flight, flying to Cairo and taking a connecting flight to Sharm El Sheikh is often the most comfortable option.
Once you land, you will need a taxi or private transfer for the final part of the journey.
Let me arrange your airport pick-up
If you are staying at one of the Stay With Mo apartments, I can arrange your transfer from Sharm El Sheikh Airport with one of my trusted local drivers.
The driver will:
-
Meet you at the airport’s exit gate with a sign that has your name
-
Wait for you if your flight is delayed
-
Help you with your luggage
-
Drive you directly to your Stay With Mo apartment in Dahab
There is no need to look for transport after landing or explain the location of your apartment to a driver who may not know the area.
I do not charge any commission for arranging the transfer. You pay the agreed fare directly to the driver, and the full amount goes to them.
Taxi prices may change, so I will always confirm the current fare with you before making the booking. To arrange your pick-up, simply send me your flight number, arrival date and scheduled arrival time in advance.
Arriving late at night
Late-night arrivals are not a problem, but please let me know in advance so everything can be arranged.
If your flight lands in the early hours of the morning, remember that your accommodation must be booked from the previous night. For example, if your flight arrives at 2:00 am on 10 October, your reservation should begin on 9 October. This ensures that the apartment is ready and waiting for you as soon as you arrive.
Travelling to Dahab by bus
If you are already in Egypt, travelling by bus can be a more affordable option. Dahab has bus connections with Cairo, Sharm El Sheikh and several other Egyptian destinations. Routes may also be available from places such as Taba, depending on the current schedule.
Companies including Go Bus and Blue Bus operate services to Dahab. As routes, departure points, and timetables can change, it is best to check directly with the bus company shortly before your journey.
The trip from Cairo is much longer than travelling from Sharm El Sheikh and may take most of the day or night. Journey times are not always predictable, as buses can make several stops and may be delayed at checkpoints. Keep your passport or ID somewhere easy to reach during the journey.
Comfort levels also vary depending on the bus company and ticket class. If possible, book your seat in advance—especially before weekends, public holidays, and busy travel periods.
Getting from the Dahab bus station to your apartment
The Dahab bus station is outside the main beachfront neighbourhoods, so you will usually need a short taxi ride to your accommodation.
Taxi drivers normally wait near arriving buses. Before getting into the taxi, show the driver your destination and agree on the total fare. This simple step helps avoid misunderstandings or unexpected prices at the end of the journey.
Once your Stay With Mo booking is confirmed, I will send you the apartment location and arrival information so you can show it to your driver.
Please note that I only arrange trusted-driver transfers from Sharm El Sheikh Airport. If you arrive at Dahab by bus, you will need to choose and pay a local taxi driver yourself.
Coming from Taba or another Egyptian city
Dahab can also be reached overland from Taba and other parts of Egypt, although connections may be less frequent than those from Cairo or Sharm El Sheikh.
Depending on where you are travelling from, you may find a direct bus or need to change in another city. Always confirm the route, departure point and expected arrival time with the transport company before you travel.
If you are entering Egypt through the Taba border crossing, check the latest entry and visa requirements for your nationality before setting off, as these can differ from the rules for travellers arriving through an international airport.
